Fly With The Stingrays In Cayman

Stingray City is just inside a natural channel that passes through Grand Cayman’s barrier reef and consists of a string of sandbars, some as shallow as three feet. Stingrays were first attracted here by fishermen cleaning their fish in the calm waters. It is among the Cayman Islands’ most popular attractions. It’s where aquatic lovers can mingle with marine life by wading among friendly stingrays that congregate near the sandy shore. This once-in-a-lifetime Cayman experience invites adventurers to get up close to some of the most magnificent animals in the world. Experience the majestic southern Atlantic stingrays in only three feet of water as you brush up against these creatures. Stingray City offers tours ranging from 3 to 5 hours. During the tours, you can swim with, feed, and take memorable photos with these friendly rays. Swimming with a 150-pound stingray in a warm, clear lagoon feels something like flying alongside a graceful bird. Check out this Grand Cayman shore excursion video to get a taste of what you're in for.

Spelunking In Jamaica

Often regarded as Jamaica's most inhospitable region, the Cockpit Country is a hilly and dense area with limestone denudations traversing three parishes and covering over 500 square miles. The so-called “cockpits” are caused because limestone, the predominant soil in the area, does not retain water. Rainwater therefore, percolates downward through cracks and fissures, creating in time a landscape of pits and valleys. Below the surface of the Cockpit Country are hundreds of rivers, streams and caves, providing some of the best spelunking opportunities in the Caribbean. When you enter a cave, you will be guided through a narrow stream illuminated by your headlamp. Then you’re crouching and as you progress through the caves you are on your hands and knees, and eventually you are wriggling and sliding through underground passageways to finally swim and wade among stalagmites and stalactites as you journey through a wondrous world. For land dwellers, the island is packed with adventure above sea level as well. Visit here to get a glimpse.

Swim In A Subterranean Sinkhole In The Yucatan

In the Yucatan Peninsula, in Mexico, there are thousands of underwater little gems called Cenotes. They are ancient sinkholes that date back to the times of the Mayans. The Mayan believed Cenotes were the gateway to their underworld god Xibalba, and home to the god of rain, Chaac. In a land that has few rivers and lakes, the Cenotes were one of the main sources of fresh water. Many rituals and ceremonies were performed in the Cenotes to pay homage to the gods and pray for rain and good crops. Legends are bountiful of young virgins who were sacrificed, by the Mayans, to these very important gods. Today, the Cenotes are a great tourist destination and a stopover for many of the tours to Chichen Itza. A visit to the Cenote gives everyone the opportunity to go in for a swim and enjoy the cool, clear waters surrounded by a magical mystical feeling. For guests who want to learn about the Mayan culture, the stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the walls are a great historical reminder of Mexico’s past. Immerse yourself in the many wonders that this area provides travelers when back on land. Visit here and prepare to be amazed.

Scuba Diving In Belize

Belize has long been regarded as one of the best scuba diving destinations in our hemisphere. There are over 200 islands off the coast of the country. Ambergris Caye is the largest island and the one most visited by avid divers. This is also the largest reef in the Americas, with over 300 kilometers (185 miles) to explore. The intricate collection of spur and groove canyons, make Ambergris one of the most interesting dive sites in the world. Here you will be able to encounter Shark Ray Alley where you can swim with nurse sharks and rays who seem to enjoy visitors, explore the reef for an up-close encounter with an array of colorful fish and corals, and see the natural habitat of sea turtles.
